Arresting News: Perpetrators Purportedly Purloin Purses

A sizable drug bust and the alleged theft of cold, sinus and flu meds are just two of the police items in this week's round-up of unusual police news.

 

In the past two months, nine car break-ins reportedly took place in Middlebury and police say it's purses the perpetrators allegedly purloined.

Someone apparently drove an offroad vehicle off of the road—and onto the golf course at a country club. Some $7,500 in damage was done to the fairways.

Trumbull Police arrested a man for his alleged role in the 2011 robbery of People's United Bank on White Plains Road in Trumbull. Police charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit larceny. He allegedly rode in the car with the robbers, police said. Other suspects have been charged.

Police also accused a Bridgeport man of lying to investigators about a reportedly stolen car. He was charged with receiving stolen property.

A shoplifter reportedly swiped about $200 worth of cold, sinus and flu medications and three bags of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups from Stop & Shop in Monroe.

A man was arrested after allegedly biting a fellow bar patron on the finger during a fight at a restaurant in Monroe. Police said he told officers that someone touched his girlfriend inappropriately, so he slammed his pool cue over the table and lunged toward him, only to be brought down to the floor by other patrons. He said he didn't know what happened because he was being taken down, but knew he bit someone, according to police.

Monroe police arrested a man for road rage after he allegedly cut off a woman he had been driving behind on Main Street, because her stopping to allow another motorist to turn into Duchess reportedly angered him. He then got out of the car and started yelling at the woman, according to police, who said the man also flipped off another man who drove around them and smacked his windshield, cracking it as he went by.

Westport police arrested a teenager after an officer pulled her over for having illegal tinted windows and detected the scent of marijuana in her vehicle while speaking with her, according to an arrest report. The 18 year old allegedly attempted to hide the bag of marijuana "down her pants," police said.

A 34-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly left her four-year-old son in the car while she went tanning in Westport. Temperatures were in the 20’s, police said.

After allegedly ignoring a barricade and police caution tape, a 49-year-old woman reportedly crashed into a tree which had fallen across the street in Wilton last week. She was charged with failure to obey a sign.

Stamford Police made a sizable drug bust this week that led to .

A gutsy motorist allegedly revved up his engine and shot through an intersection when he had a red light. He was arrested and charged by a Norwalk cop who was sitting at the same light and watched the motorist allegedly do this.

Fairfield police detained a man accused of stealing change from another man's car as the suspect fled right past police headquarters.

A 36-year-old Stratford woman was arrested this week for from a former employer in Milford.

In Milford, two men allegedly used a stolen credit card to purchase an iPad at Target valued at $499, make an attempted purchase of $2,300 worth of jewelry at Belden Jewelers and another attempted purchase of $200 worth of hats at Lids Store.
