Alexander Scott Lee, of Dodgingtown Road, Bethel, (police originally identified him as being from New Milford) was arraigned and held on a $150,000 bond in connection with the Oct. 20 accident at Route 302 and Hawleyville Road that took the life of Weston bicyclist Thomas Steinert-Threlkeld.

Danbury Superior Court Judge Andrew Roraback quickly read the arrest warrant application and said there was enough probable cause to hold Lee.

Lee said nothing at the arraignment, however his attorney, Kevin Chamberlin of Danbury, said afterward that the case was not cut-and-dry.

"There is a tremendous amount of investigation left to do in this case," Chamberlin said.

Lee is charged with evading responsibility, misconduct with a motor vehicle, tampering with evidence and making an improper left turn.

According to police, Steinert-Threlkeld was cycling west on Route 302 when his bike allegedly made contact with Lee’s car, causing Steinert-Threlkeld to swerve and fall. Another vehicle making a turn on Route 302 struck the 59-year-old Weston man, who later succumbed to his injuries.
