Representative Dan Carter: 2014 Legislative Session Begins

Posted by Paula Antolini

Message from Representative Dan Carter, February 6, 2014:

Today I joined fellow legislative leaders at the State Capitol to usher in the start of the 2014 Legislative Session.

This marks the beginning of a three-month-long “short session,” during which only bills related to budgetary, revenue and financial matters may be considered, or bills submitted by committees on any subject.

This year I will continue to serve as House Republican Leader of the General Law Committee, as well as member of the Banks and Energy & Technology Committees.

The state’s nonpartisan Office of Legislative Research (OLR) has issued its report on important issues that the General Assembly may face during the 2014 session. The report, as described by OLR staff, is based on interim studies and research requests as well as confidential discussions with legislators, executive branch agencies and other legislative participants. You can view the report by clicking here.

In the coming weeks I will be joining my colleagues to announce our caucus priorities for the session, which adjourns May 7th. In the meantime, please continue to reach out to me and express your vision for our state moving forward. I can be reached at dan.carter@housegop.ct.gov or 800-842-1423.
