Bethel Middle School "Curriculum Expo 2012"

Bethel Middle School "Curriculum Expo 2012" was a feast for the eyes and ears as well as the palate. Many wonderful exhibits were on display last Tuesday, May 8, 2012.

Many wonderful exhibits were on display at the Bethel Middle School "Curriculum Expo 2012" which proudly displayed students' achievements.  The 6th, 7th and 8th grades all participated in the  May 8 event, and the entire school was buzzing with activity as parents and students visited each exhibit.

There were projects from the Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, World Language (International Food Extravaganza), Music (Band, Orchestra, Chorus, and Piano Keyboard), Art Departments as well as the following: Digital Student, Business Enterprise Class, Pupil Services (Student Success Plans), Media Center, and Physical Education (Parent/Child P.E. Challenge).

It was a feast for the eyes and ears as well as the palate. There were so many exhibits it was difficult to decide where to start first. Visitors were greeted by beautiful colorful artwork that lined the hallways. Art students had 2-and-3-dimensional creations on display which included pottery, black and white drawings, self portraits and much more.

There were live musical performances by some members of the school orchestra near the cafeteria, the band performed in the main hallway near the auditorium, and the BMS Chorus was in Room 135.  A special feast was in the cafeteria at the "International Food Extravaganza" where World Language students brought home-made foods from around the world and shared their favorite and traditional recipes.

In the media center, visitors enjoyed the concert of songs from the Leader Song Project by the 6th grade Social Studies Department, where each song featured facts about an ancient leader, or in another area there you could mummify clementines the same way Egyptians mummified pharaohs.

In the Language Arts Department students demonstrated their hand-made game boards based upon a novel they had read. You could see the Magic of Moodle in the Math Department in student assessments and journals.  If this wasn't enough, you could visit the Physical Education Department in the gym and compete together with your child in three different events and scores would be announced in the morning. There was an enormous amount of projects, this was just some of them.  It appeared everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event.
