Transfer $ from Town Surplus to Keep Mill Rate Flat

To all Bethel Voters:

Action you take now could result in a budget with no tax increase!

We urge you to contact First Selectman Knickerbocker’s office directly at (203) 794-8501 or email him at knickerbockerm@bethel-ct.gov and express support for the transfer of funds from the Town’s $11 million dollar surplus to offset any increase to the mill rate that was proposed at Monday night’s Town Meeting.

According to the Town Comptroller, the necessary amount to achieve this is $450K. That’s $450,000 from $11,000,000 that the Town of Bethel has in reserve of taxpayer dollars.

This proposed solution would keep the mill rate flat at 31.5 for the upcoming fiscal year. During the upcoming year, the BAC plans to work hard towards effecting long-needed structural and policy changes that result in endless overspending and tax hikes.

Again, the number to call is (203) 794-8501 and the First Selectman’s email address is: knickerbockerm@bethel-ct.gov.

The only way to persuade the Board of Finance to call a Special Meeting and vote to act on this solution prior to the upcoming referendum is if enough taxpayers get behind this proposal and voice their support!

Please, take action today so that on July 17th, we might finally be able to vote “Yes!”

Sincerely,

Cynthia McCorkindale, Chairman

Billy Michael, Treasurer
