Get Out This Weekend: Costume Contest, Pumpkin Carving, Ghost Tour

What to do in and around Bethel this weekend.

1. Halloween at The Spot
Where/When: 1 Front Street, Bethel, Friday night
Why Go: Itching for a Hauntingly good time? Come on out Friday night for The Spot’s annual Halloween Party and come wearing your best because as usual there will be a prize for the best costume of the night.

Pricing: Free entry

2. Where/When: , 70 Southern Blvd, Danbury, Saturday, 10 a.m.
Why Go: Promote healthy activity and join fellow hikers at the lower mansion parking lot for a family-friendly guided hike, led by an experienced hike leader. Free refreshments from Blue Jay Orchards will be provided, a prize raffle will be held, and the Red Barn Environmental Center will be open following the hike.
Pricing: Free 

3. 
Where/When: 
274 S. Main St, Newtown, Saturday, 2-8 p.m.
Why Go: 
Come on down to participate or just view this spectacular event. First-Third place prizes will be awarded for the best creativity and craftsmanship at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Pricing: 
Each pumpkin $5 donation, 3 for $10 

4. 
Where/When: 
, 59 Stony Hill Road, Bethel, Sunday, 9 a.m.
Why Go: 
Come in costume and kids receive a good bag. Plus huge gift basket raffles donated by Newtown & Bethel merchants. All proceeds go toward the Ambulance Fund.
Pricing: $7 per adult, $5 per child and seniors, $20 per family

5. 
Where/When: 
40 Main Street, Bethel, Sunday, 6:30 p.m.
Why Go: 
Come enjoy the Family Friendly candlelight ghost tour through the streets of Bethel, guided by local storyteller, Marty Bishop, dressed in costume. You’ll hear enchanting and chilling tales of fun and fascinating stories featuring a combination of local legends, history, superstition, folk tales and fictional history.  The tour will last approximately one hour and will conclude with hot cider and donuts at the Bethel Historical Society.
Pricing: $10 per adult, $5 per child 5-12
