Obituary: Michael D. Phillips

Services were held at the Bethel Funeral Home

Michael D. Phillips

Michael “Flips” Phillips, 53, passed on Sunday, September 9th, 2012 at Danbury Hospital after a long and heroic battle. Michael attended Wilton High School, where he excelled in lacrosse, hockey and football. Following high school, he graduated from Boston College, where he continued to be a decorated athlete. He also was a dedicated coach for the Bethel Youth Lacrosse program.

Michael was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend. His courage and determination throughout his battle was remarkable and unwavering, and he will be missed dearly by all of those who knew and loved him. Michael is survived by his wife, MaryBeth; his children, Luke and Rebecca; his mother, Therese Phillips; his father, Alfred Phillips and wife, Elaine; and brother, Edward Phillips; and wife Cynthia.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, September 11th, 2012 at Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel from 4-8 pm. There will also be a Mass on Wednesday at 10am at St. Mary’s Church in Bethel.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Sarcoma Foundation of America at www.curesarcoma.org.
