Obituary: Lois Santaniello

Lois Santaniello dies at the age of 93.

Lois (McComas) Santaniello, wife of the late Dr. Nicholas J. Santaniello, died on March 19, 2012, at Bethel Health Care Center. She was born in Abingdon, Maryland, on March 4, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Anna and Howard K. McComas.

After attending local schools, she graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics. After her marriage to Dr. Santaniello, she resided in Fort Lewis Washington where he served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. They Moved to Norwalk and then settled in Wilton to raise their family.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Santaniello was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Wilton and also generously gave her time to various local charities. She also was a member of the Shorehaven Golf Club in Norwalk where she enjoyed playing golf and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Santaniello traveled extensively and remained an avid fan of the University of Maryland Terrapins. Most importantly, she was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family adored her and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children: Nicholas D. Santaniello and his wife Colleen of Bethel; John (Jack) A. Santaniello and his wife Pamela of Bethel and Lois A. Carreira of Bridgewater. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Amy Santaniello, Scott Santaniello, Brian Carreira, David Santaniello, William Santaniello and his wife Jessica, Wendy Carreira and Melanie Carreira.

The Santaniello family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of The Cascades Assisted Living in Bethel and for giving Mrs. Santaniello exemplary attention and loving care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at in Bethel, on Saturday March 24, 2012, at 10 am. Interment will follow immediately in St. John's Cemetery in Norwalk.

Friends may call at the on Friday March 23, 2012, from 6 to 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Santaniello's memory may be made to in Bethel, CT.
