Obituary: Anna Fesh, 90

Fesh was a resident of Bethel and Stuart, FL, and was named an elementary school volunteer of the year.

Anna (Filak) Fesh, age 90, of Bethel, CT died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Danbury Health Care. She was the widow of William J. Fesh, Sr.

Anna was born in Yonkers, NY, October 6, 1922, daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Falenchak) Filak. She attended Yonkers schools and after World War Two married her late husband. She was a resident of Bethel before moving to Florida, returning to Bethel 4 years ago. In Florida, she volunteered at the Felix A. Williams Elementary School, where she was named Volunteer of the Year and also received Volunteer of the Year recognition for Martin County Schools. She loved to knit, being famous for her Christmas stockings, having made hundreds, which she would give to family, friends and co-workers. She was an avid baseball fan, especially of the former NY Giants, and attended many games at the old Polo Grounds with her late father and brother Michael. She attended Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Danbury.

She is survived by her son: William J. Fesh, Jr. and his wife Sheilah of Bethel; daughter: Sandy Yates and her husband Luther of Stuart, FL; 4 Grandchildren: Sean & Bill Fesh and Bill and Kim Yates as well as 2 Great Grandsons: Cooper and Logan.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, CT, Saturday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810.
