Clarita Sullivan, 72: 'She Loved Life'

Born in Bethel, Sullivan lived in Danbury. Services are August 1.

Clarita Ann Sullivan, age 72 of Danbury, died on July 23rd at the Danbury Hospital. Clarita was born in Bethel, CT July 1, 1941, the daughter of the late John R. Sullivan, born in Redding and the late Margaret M. (Whelan) Sullivan, born in Clonmel, County Waterford, Ireland.

Clarita was employed with Burlington Coat Factory in its business office until the time of her retirement. She was previously employed with O'Hara's Floor Covering, and the Danbury News Times in the Circulation Department. Clarita loved life and was always ready for a good time. She enjoyed playing her favorite card games with family, listening to country music, attending family gatherings, word search puzzles, silver jewelry, and watching her favorite game shows. She was the baker in the family and everyone will miss her apple cake, as well as her special macaroni salad, goulash, and Thanksgiving sweet potatoes. 

Clarita is survived by her four sisters: Margaret "Peggy" Dyer, Alice Cumming, and Kathy Mandato, all of Danbury, and Helen Tracy and her husband Al of New Fairfield. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Bernice Hawley and her husband Harold of Danbury, Beth Hawley and her husband Richard of Danbury, Patty Tompkins and her husband Brian of New Fairfield, Colleen Cumming and her partner Stephen of Andover, MA, Bill Knowles of Gaylordsville, Kerry Dyer and his wife Patti of Fairfield, Brendan Dyer and his wife Elaine of Seymore, Michael Tracy and his wife Sheila of Danbury, and Jon Cumming of Nashua, NH. In addition, Clarita is survived by many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends both locally and in Ireland.

A celebration of Clarita's life will take place on Thursday August 1st at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street Danbury from 6:00 thru 8:00 pm. A prayer service to take place at 8:00pm. Clarita's cremated remains will be buried on Friday August 2nd at 10:00am in Saint Mary Cemetery, Bethel, CT. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are requested to be made to the charity of one's choice.
