60-Year Bethel Resident Ernst Kugler, 87

Ernst K. Kugler, age 87, of Bethel, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elfriede Paula (Scheu) Kugler.

He was born in Murrhardt, Germany, Jan. 8, 1926, son of the late Wilhelm and Elisabeth (Elser) Kugler. He came to the United States in 1953 and was a Bethel resident for more than 60 years.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury, the Arion Singing Society and enjoyed his many activities at the Bethel Senior Center.

Ernst was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by two sons, Rudi Kugler and his wife Karen of Newtown, CT, and Gary Kugler and his wife Carrie of Newtown, CT; daughter Sue Manzo and her husband Rick of Marietta, GA; six grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Trudel Elser.

He was a friend to many and will be deeply missed by all.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, CT, Saturday at 1 p.m., with Pastor Walter Harper officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home preceding the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Private burial will be held at a later date.
