Life as a College Student

This is a blog designed by a college student to help others understand what college is truly about and to help give advice.

Life as a college student can be very overwhelming but yet very exciting. Everyday I am constantly worrying about making the grades, turning in papers, and getting my dates straight. For someone with short term memory, that is the overwhelming part. So here I am. I am a sophomore in the Fall 2012 semester here at Western Connecticut State University.

I am writing this post from the "fish bowl" which is a lounge right in the middle of the West Side Campus on Mill Plain Road. My class, Introduction to Criminal Justice starts in just 35 minutes. I'm nervous because we are going to start to review for the final exam which is at the beginning of next week.

I'm cringing, and screaming inside, anxious and helplessly hoping that I do my best and pass all my exams. There is the pressure at home, Mom wants me to get all A's and B's this semester. No C'd, D's, or F's. I have taken a year off from college, because I transfered from Norwalk Community College. I'm glad I took that break in between but, yet it is still hard to get back into that routine.

But luckily for this writing, it helps me clear my head. I am excited to go to class but nervous for the review for finals.

College is bittersweet.

Jessica, what do you mean 'when society lets them down'? I'm struggling to understand what you areRead More trying to convey... Please elaborate if you can.

"Bethel teachers are not only educating students, but when society lets kids down, it’sRead More teachers who step in to fill the gap." Explain to me how an average salary of $60,000 per year for working 183 days during that year and an EXTREMELY generous retirement package (compared to the 240 a year the rest of us have to work) considered "society letting them down"?

It was a great job Mike and the EDC did on keeping the jobs from Cannondale from leaving Bethel. TooRead More bad Paul Z. won't have the guts to ask you about it on this "lively" show.

Billy: Since I don't own a beat up 1998 Honda (rather, a non-beat up, rather nice, rather newRead More European sedan) does that mean I would have been immune to the seduction of the reduction in my property taxes? Just trying to follow your logic here...
