'Newtown-Bound Bears & Beyond' Continues to Nourish the Memory of the 20 Newtown Children

Donating a bear honors the memories of the Newtown victims, and in turn provides a bit of comfort to a child who is sick, lonely, or suffering in any way. Love wins!!

Bethel-based 'Newtown-Bound Bears & Beyond' continues to accept donations of brand new bears and other stuffed 'critters' from local individuals and organizations in order to expand the delivery perameters for the Newtown Bears.

Donations have come in from as far as the UK and Scotland, and across the United States from California to Florida, not to mention the generosity of our neighbors here in Connecticut!

Why donate to this charity? Who exactly benefits?  It's as simple as our mission statement asserts: "As long as there are children who are suffering, there will be a Newtown-Bound huggable friend to comfort the children, and to help keep alive the memory of those we lost on 12/14/12."

In other words, every donation that is generously donated accomplishes two beautiful events: the memories of the 20 children who were taken too soon in Newtown, CT are honored, and children who are in need of comfort due to illness or other life situations receive a new huggable friend to provide that comfort.

Each "Newtown Bear" is honored with a green and white ribbon, which of course represents the school colors of Sandy Hook Elementary School. (Many of the ribbons are also handmade and donated to the organization from all over as well, so they are all unique!) The ribbons are hand-sewn on individually for safety purposes.  They are then sorted into groups of 25-50 (or more, depending on their destination) and delivered to hospitals or programs that have accepted our offer for a donation of Newtown Bears.

As the co-founders, Janice Deep & Jonna Breen, both Bethel moms, gladly accept donations at our homes by drop-off or UPS/USPS.  A more recent suggestion made by one of the members was the possibility of donating gas gift cards since all deliveries are made in person by Janice and Jonna in their own vehicles and as the locations spread out, the more travel time (and gas) is required.
