Preview of Theater at Walnut Hill's 'She Loves Me'

Performances will run the two weekends before Thanksgiving.

Theater at Walnut Hill Presents

She Loves Me

Going back more than 15 years, Walnut Hill has done a large-scale musical in December for the Christmas season. Cast with actors, musicians and technicians from across the Walnut Hill community, past productions have included "A Christmas Carol" and "It's a Wonderful Life."

This year, instead of in December, the play “She Loves Me” will be presented the two weekends before Thanksgiving. The production team and cast of more than 50 has been working together in rehearsal since early September.

The story of “She Loves Me” might be familiar: two clerks who work in the same shop cannot stand the other, never realizing they are pen pals who have fallen in love through the mail.  Originally produced on Broadway in 1963, the music and lyrics are by the same team who wrote the classic “Fiddler on the Roof.” Based on the same source material as the 1940’s film “Shop Around the Corner” and the more recent “You’ve Got Mail,” it carries the beautiful theme of stripping away false assumptions about someone in order to discover the true person.

The two weekends the play is being presented are immediately followed by the season of Advent. This year, our Advent services will be focusing on the true person of Jesus Christ, guiding us to strip away false assumptions about Jesus that many people bring into the Christmas season.

Performances will be Friday and Saturday nights at 7:00 on Nov. 15, 16, 22 and 23. There will also be a 2:00 matinee on Saturday, Nov. 23. Tickets are $15 each. If purchased before Nov. 1 they are available at an early price of $12 each.
