Running Across America is Life Changing: Rev3 and Ulman Cancer Fund Blew My Mind

One woman's story about her experience Running Across America with Revolution3 Triathlon and the Ulman Cancer Fund.

On March 26th at midnight, a group of like minded individuals embarked on an epic journey.

Rev3 Triathlon company and the Ulman Cancer fund are kicking off their partnership in a big way this year! to raise funds and awareness for the Ulman Cancer Fund.

We had a core group of 6 people that ran for 22 days straight. We were going to take Easter off, but we ended up getting a few miles in that day to stay on top of it all. We covered 3080 miles from Oceanside, Calif. to Washington, D.C. from March 26th - April 16th. In addition to our core group, we had many people come out to run with us including survivors and their families.

None of us could really imagine what would come out of this experience for each of us personally, but we knew what our task was. RUN, raise funds and awareness!

We met so many people along the way that have been touched by cancer whether they were survivors themselves or friends or family members of those that had been given the Big C diagnosis.

We had a lot of meaningful and tearful conversations with people at restaurants, gas stations or just on the side of the road. It was amazing to share their stories and for them to know that we care and are trying to make life better for those with this diagnosis. To know that they don't have to take on the challenge alone.

For me personally this was a transformative experience! I am a stay at home mom to almost 6-year-old twins. I really started to delve into the world of triathlon and endurance sports when they were only 8 months old and this has been my ME thing.

Lately I have been feeling less than fulfilled. I missed having a great purpose in life. Something I could call my own and be proud of. Something that would show my kids that it is important to take care of yourself and share your passion.

At the risk of being Cliche... we all need to LET OUR LIGHT SHINE.

I felt like my light was shining loud and clear out there on the road, but it hadn't been shining loud and clear in my 'regular' life for quite some time. It is time for me to put the mommy guilt down and pursue my dreams and passions for the sake of sharing my light and making myself happy and fulfilled. I know my kids will be better for it.

While on the road I spent a lot of time with two people behind the Ulman Cancer Fund and they are both simply amazing! I also learned more about their Team Fight program. They help train athletes for triathlons (and other events) in exchange for fundraising the athletes get coaching, entry to races, race kits and more!

How to Help

The good news for you is that the Team Fight program is available for Rev3 Quassy. The half is full, but you can still get in! The fundraising minimums for Team Fight are low... and we help you get there! Check it out and let me know if you have any questions!

This program is very new and they need someone to help get the word out! I'm SO SO beyond over the moon happy to say that I am going to be helping them do this!

So begins a new journey for me.. or rather continues the one I started on March 26th. I didn't know what was going to come of this, if anything, and to say it was life changing would be a gross understatement.
