Ability Beyond Disability Honors Businesses and Individuals at Inaugural Corporate Recognition Breakfast

On Thursday October 4th Ability Beyond Disability held its Inaugural Corporate Recognition Breakfast at the Matrix in Danbury, CT.

 

On Thursday October 4th Ability Beyond Disability held its Inaugural Corporate Recognition Breakfast at the Matrix in Danbury, CT.  There were nearly 250 attendees which included employees from businesses across CT and NY and individuals with disabilities who receive employment services from Ability Beyond Disability. The event honored individuals served while thanking the business community for their continued support of Ability Beyond Disability through volunteerism, in-kind donations, employment and financial gifts. The keynote speaker was Chester Elton, world renowned author, motivational speaker, trainer and employee engagement expert.

Businesses were nominated for various awards based on their commitment to helping people with disabilities achieve their goals. The winners included PepsiCo for the Business Leadership Award; AON as Corporate Volunteer of the Year, Siobhan O’Shea of Towers Watson as Distinguished Partner of the Year and Millennium Dental as Employer of the Year.  

Individuals served by Ability Beyond Disability were nominated for their strong work ethic and commitment to success. The winners were Joe Massamillo as Employee of the Year and Lisa Maroto for the Longevity Award. Joe has been working at the A&P for 11 years and Lisa recently retired from Kimberly-Clark after 18 years of service.

The event was made possible through the support of Topex, Cartus, Red Oak Transportation and American Express.

Ability Beyond Disability is a 501{c} (3) organization headquartered in Bethel, Conn. and Mount Kisco, N.Y. It provides a wide range of services for over 2,000 people with a disability that inhibits their activities of daily living -- including numerous residential alternatives, employment training, career counseling, job placement services, cognitive and life skills instruction, clinical and therapeutic support, and volunteer and recreational activities. Today, its services extend far beyond the Danbury community into much of Connecticut and the Hudson Valley, New York.
