Ability Beyond Disability will be holding their 60th Anniversary Gala on Saturday April 27, 2013 at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury, Connecticut.

The chairman of this year’s event is Ridgefield First Selectman Rudy Marconi. First Selectman Marconi has had a long history of supporting Ability Beyond Disability and employs an individual served by Ability Beyond Disability in his office at Ridgefield Town Hall.

Kevin and Elaine Cox, long-time supporters of Ability Beyond Disability and Ridgefield residents, will receive the Robert S. Young Humanitarian award. This award is given by the Young Family in memory of Robert S. Young, a former volunteer leader and President of Ability Beyond Disability. Kevin and Elaine have been chosen as recipients for their dedication to philanthropy in Fairfield County and especially in their own community. They are both exemplary individuals of generosity, empathy, kindness and altruism.

“Kevin and Elaine Cox have made a tremendous impact on the local community and we are excited to honor them with this award,” says David Cappiello, Ability Beyond Disability Vice President of Development and Communications. “We are thrilled to have both our honorees and gala chair from Ridgefield this year as the Ridgefield community has always been a constant source of support for Ability Beyond Disability.”

The local business community is showing its support through sponsorship of the event. Diamond Sponsors, the highest level available, include: Colonial Automotive Group, Maplewood Senior Living, People’s Power and Gas, Presidio, Madstar Mobile and American Express.

Ability Beyond Disability will be holding their 60th Anniversary Gala on Saturday April 27, 2013 at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury, Connecticut. The annual gala is Ability Beyond Disability’s largest fundraising event, attracting close to 600 guests each year. The money raised will allow Ability Beyond Disability to continue to provide critical supports to over 2,100 people with disabilities in the community. Ability Beyond Disability is a 501{c} (3) organization headquartered in Bethel, Conn. and Mount Kisco, N.Y. It provides a wide range of services for over 2,000 people with a disability that inhibits their activities of daily living -- including numerous residential alternatives, employment training, career counseling, job placement services, cognitive and life skills instruction, clinical and therapeutic support, and volunteer and recreational activities. Today, its services extend far beyond the Danbury community into much of Connecticut and the Hudson Valley, New York.
