Ability Beyond Disability Awarded Grant from the Savings Bank of Danbury Foundation

The Savings Bank of Danbury Foundation has awarded Ability Beyond Disability a $3,000 grant toward transitional and independent living for people with disabilities.

The Savings Bank of Danbury Foundation has awarded Ability Beyond Disability a $3,000 grant toward transitional and independent living for people with disabilities. This money will be used for the unreimbursed costs of the programs and help fill the gap between what a funder pays for services for an individual and the actual cost of services provided. These programs enable adults living with mild to significant mental illness, developmental and neurological disabilities to live self-sufficiently in safe, affordable and accessible housing integrated in the community. These vital programs ensure that people with disabilities residing in the Danbury area have adequate and secure housing, directly reducing homelessness within the community.

“The Savings Bank of Danbury is proud to fund the Transitional and Independent Living programs through our gift from the SBD Foundation,” says Kathy Romagnano, President and CEO, Savings Bank of Danbury. “The Bank is pleased to see the merger of two outstanding agencies; Ability Beyond Disability and Interlude continue their mission to serve people with disabilities”.

The Savings Bank of Danbury Foundation was established to provide grants to eligible 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organizations in four primary areas: education, community & economic development, health & human service and arts & culture. Their mission is to strengthen communities by providing grants to organizations that are vital to the well-being, growth and prosperity of the communities in which we live and work.
