GARDEN HINTS

I am interested in planting day lilies. What time of year should I plant them?

Spring or summer planting is fine. Plants must be watered deeply and kept well watered for a couple of weeks. Dig the soil deeply, adding well-rotted manure, leafmold, peat moss, or compost.

QUOTE OF THE DAY from Brainy Quotes

A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.

At most kids’ chess tournaments, the parents are relegated to waiting in hallways or parking lots while the children compete. At last Saturday’s second annual “Mini Me” Charity Chess Tournament, sponsored by the Chess Club of Fairfield County (CCFC), parents were plucked from the sidelines to play as a team with their child.  To read more about kids chess in Fairfield County, click here. http://www.fairfieldcountychess.com/scholastic.html
