Second Annual Bethel Public Schools Parent University

The Second Annual Bethel Public Schools' Parent University promises to be an evening of engaging and instructive conversation focused on critical educational and family issues important to parents and community members. After the 6:00 PM keynote entitled The Importance of Keeping Children Safe Online by Kelly Mullins from the Danbury Women's Center, parents may choose two from the following sessions:

  • Is There a Worm in the Common Core?  What Parents Need to Know About Bethel's Implementation of Common Core Standards
  • Bethel Community Drug Forum Follow-Up:  What Parents Need to Know about Substance Abuse
  • What Are the Google Apps for Education, and How Are They Used in the Schools?
  • The Social and Emotional Life of the Pre-Teen:  What is Your Middle Schooler Really Thinking?
  • How Safe Are Our Schools?  A Parent's Guide to Bethel's Safe School Climate Plan 
  • Building Your Young Child's Resilience and Confidence
  • What Attitudes and Dispositions Do Bethel Students Need to Be Successful in College and Career?
  • What's On Your Mind?  Ask the Board of Education
When:  Wednesday, February 5, 2014 (Snow date is Thursday, February 6, 2014)

Who:  PreK-12 Parents and all Bethel Community Members
  • FREE babysitting available for children ages 4 and up (child must be toilet trained) from 5:45 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Refreshments will be served compliments of the Central PTO
  • Translation assistance available for Spanish-speaking parents
