Newtown Pumpkin Festival Promises to Bring Halloween Back to Newtown!

NEWTOWN, CT – A Bead of Roses is pleased to announce the
first annual Newtown Pumpkin Festival.  Through
a collaborative effort between A Bead of Roses, Newtown Kindness, Newtown Youth
Academy, and many other Newtown non-profit groups and local businesses,
Halloween is returning to Connecticut this year!  Two years of storms have forced the
cancellation of trick-or-treating and many festivals, but this year will be
different, promises Lisa Rose, founder and managing partner of A Bead of Roses bead
and jewelry shop.

The mission of the festival is “To bring Halloween back to
Newtown in a magical way, focusing the community on a shared event that
benefits causes close to the hearts and minds of the people of Newtown.”  Based on the hugely successful pumpkin
carving event in Keene, NH, the October 12th festival celebrates the
luminous beauty of thousands of glowing pumpkins, all carved with love by
community members.  The event will run
from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m., with pumpkin drop-off available throughout the
day.  Pumpkins will be carved at home and
will be displayed and lit at dusk, while families celebrate the season with
food vendors, craft vendors, games, and music throughout the day and evening.

There is an entrance fee of $25 per passenger vehicle to
attend.  This all-inclusive ticket fee
covers event entrance for everyone in your passenger vehicle (maximum of 8),
allows you to bring in as many pumpkins as you have carved at home, and
includes parking and shuttle service from your assigned off-site locations to
Fairfield Hills.  You must register online
at www.newtownpumpkinfestival.com,
and when you register you will receive an assigned parking location and pass so
that you can safely shuttle to the festival at Fairfield Hills.  Prizes will be awarded for most creative
pumpkins.  If you cannot attend the event
in person you can adopt a pumpkin online for a fee of $22 and it will be carved
by the Newtown Pumpkin Festival committee and lit at 6 pm with all of the other
pumpkins.

Corporate sponsorships are helping to defray the cost of
safety, security, and sanitation, which will allow the donations to benefit the
many non-profits who are helping to run the event.  Newtown Kindness, The Avielle Foundation, The
Chase Kowalski Fund, and Ben’s Lighthouse Fund are just some of the foundations
who will benefit from this event.  In
addition, the festival is a great gathering for good old-fashioned autumn
family fun.
