Moderators Set Up Extra Booths for Steady Voter Traffic

Bethelites are showing up to vote in Tuesday's Municipal Elections.

The polls have been busy all day for Bethel’s 2013 Municipal Elections, with poll moderators having to put out extra booths at several locations.

Midday turnout numbers were not available Tuesday afternoon, however moderators are reporting steady turnout and even the occasional wait time.

The polls at Berry Elementary were packed full the two times Town Clerk Lisa Bergh stopped by, she said Tuesday afternoon.

The steady stream of voters at Stony Hill Fire Department prompted moderators there to put out an extra voting booth.

“It’s been very busy, very steady,” Democratic Registrar of Voters Mary O’Leary said while working at the Stony Hill polls, despite some backups in traffic on Route 6 westbound outside.

Over at the Municipal Center, District IV moderators erected extra booths, as well.

The interest in local elections is lead to good foot traffic but, “It’s a long ballot, too,” Republican Registrar of Voters Mary Legnard pointed out, as voters have to fill out both sides of the ballot.

Polls will be open at all three locations (five voting districts) until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Check back with Bethel Patch Tuesday night after the polls close for results as they come in.
