The top five notable cases handled by the Bethel Police Department over the past year.
Baby Jesus Stolen
In January, thieves allegedly made away with some precious cargo at P.T. Barnum Square. It wasn't the first time the baby Jesus had been stolen from the nativity scene, though. Bethel Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bobbi Jo Beers told Patch at the time, "This is the second or third time this has happened. We don't want to bolt the Baby Jesus down."

Police Investigate Incest/Porn Case
In November, court documents and police reports outlined a bizarre saga of alleged incest and amateur pornography among a Bethel family. According to reports, George Sayers and Tiffany Hartford told some they were father and daughter and others they were husband and wife -- and DNA tests reportedly confirmed they had a child together. The two are also charged with making pornographic videos starring Hartford and another woman.

Shoplifting Baby Formula
In October, Bethel police charged a New Milford man with shoplifting baby formula. According to police, the man stole the "several cans" of formula from the Big Y supermarket. He was charged with sixth-degree larceny.
An 11-Month Investigation Into Identity Theft
In October, Bethel police cracked what reports say was a complex identity theft case. After an 11-month investigation, police charged a Danbury man with identity theft, larceny and other counts. They say the man was writing checks and creating false credit cards in another man's name. During the investigation, he allegedly also lied to police.
Man Leads Police in Backyard Chase
Bethel police were involved in several chases this year, according to reports, but one chase in August, after a DUI-related car accident, involved a suspect allegedly jumping a fence and holing up in a basement to avoid arrest. Police arrested the man on five charges, including Criminal Mischief.
