Weekend Forecast and Beyond: Friday, March 18

Turning much cooler for the weekend.

Today: Afternoon clearing, warm. High: 65.

The Bethel area will start the day on the warm side, but a cold front will change things for later today. Much cooler weather is expected for the weekend and this cool trend is forecast to continue into early next week.

Today: Although today should be mainly dry, a passing sprinkle is possible in the morning. A cold front will slip through the area around midday, but not before temperatures soar into the mid-60s. Readings will likely begin to fall by late afternoon, as cooler air slides into the region.

Tonight: With the front now well south of the area, skies will turn mostly clear tonight. This will allow for good radiational cooling and lows are forecast to fall back into the mid-30s. Even though this will feel cooler than it has been lately, it is still above average for mid-March.

Saturday: High pressure from Canada will slowly be approaching the area, keeping fair skies in the forecast. At the same time, a cool air mass will help bring temperatures back to nearly seasonable levels. Forecast highs for Saturday are in the upper 40s and readings will likely fall back into the 20s by Sunday morning.

Sunday: With high pressure overhead, Sunday is shaping up to be a cool day. Morning temperatures in the 20s will only give way to afternoon highs in the upper 40s. At least there will be a mixture of sunshine and clouds to help brighten things up.

Early next week: In typical early spring fashion, the weather patterns may be shifting. Depending on how a potential storm system evolves, clouds are expected for Monday and Tuesday could see some storminess. Since there are still a lot of question marks in the forecast, stay tuned to Patch.com for more details this weekend.
