Monday Rain Could Cause Flash Flood

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Fairfield County until 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flash flood watch for Fairfield County and for many other areas of Connecticut and the tri-state area.

Monday's rain could amount to 1-1.5 inches with higher amounts locally. "On top of the 2-11 inches of rainfall that has already fallen, this could result in th flash flooding of urban areas and fast responding small streams and creeks," the NWS said.

The alert is encouraging residents to monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warning be issued. Be safe and take precautions when driving.
