Heat Advisory in Effect Until 9 p.m. Tuesday Night

According to the national weather service, the heat index could reach 105 degrees.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory today for the New York Metropolitan Area, including Fairfield County, until 9 p.m.

According to the alert, the heat and humidity levels could reach an index of 105 degrees for a couple hours this afternoon.

Those who work or need to be outside are urged to take extra precautions, such as scheduling more strenuous work to the early morning or evening hours, knowing the signs of heat stroke (nausea, fatigue, headache, dizziness), wearing light and loose fitting clothing and drinking plenty of water.

To reduce the risk of heat stroke, take frequent breaks in a shaded or air conditioned environment. If you believe someone is suffering from heat stroke, bring them to a cooler area and call 911 immediately.
