Flood Watch in Effect Until Saturday Night

An alert from the National Weather Service.

According to the National Weather Service, periods of "heavy rain is expected from Friday afternoon into Saturday" and a flood watch will be in effect for the entire State of Connecticut, including Northern Fairfield County until Saturday night.

The alert says "an approaching cold front will stall over or just west of the region on Friday. Waves of low pressure riding along this front will tap into deep tropical moisture streaming northward from the Gulf of Mexico and Western Atlantic to produce periods of heavy rain from Friday afternoon into Saturday."

Up to three inches is expected, with possibly four inches in local areas. The rain could cause flooding of small streams, urban and poor drainage areas and basements.
