Events, Reminders, Notices

  • Debris Pick-Up: Today, the post-October snowstorm debris pick-up will be  in all roads west of Rt. 53/Nashville Rd./Greenwood Ave. to Danbury Town Line. Areas north and west of Greenwood Ave. to intersection of Plumtress & Whittlesey Drive to Danbury Town Line. Crews will be in the area for six days total, ending on Wednesday, Nov. 23.   • School Schedule Change: A reminder that school will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday). It was originally scheduled to be a half-day, but was changed to a professional development day after the October snowstorm. Bethel teachers will report to schools from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. To see other changes in the schedule, . 
  • Food Drive: Today is the last day to donate to the BHS CORE Club's Thanksgiving Food Drive to support disadvantaged families at the Women's Center of Greater Danbury. Boxes are set up in the main lobby at the high school for donations. They are asking for: gift cards to Big Y and and Stop and Shop, canned veggies and cranberry sauce, stuffing, boxed potatoes and gravy, pasta and jarred sauce, non-perishable desserts, cutlery, napkins, paper plates and cups, children's crafts and reusable shopping bags for transporting the food to the families.
  • Author Talk: Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Barbara Walsh will be holding an author talk session at the Bethel Public Library tonight at 6:30 p.m. She will discuss her book "August Gale," where she takes readers on two heart-rending journeys: one into the deadly 1935 hurricane in Newfoundland, the other into the stormy relationship between her father and the grandfather who abandoned her dad when he was a young boy.
  • American Legion: The regular American Legion Post 100 meeting will be held tonight. All members and prospective members are encouraged to attend. The Post home is located at 7 Elizabeth St. in Bethel.
