Police Identify Teen Struck By Truck in Fatal Accident

Police are investigating the accident tonight.

 

Update: 11:30 p.m.

Police have confirmed the pedestrian killed in an accident on south Route 25 at about 5:21 p.m. Wednesday as Chris (Christopher Lee) Mulligan, 18, of Newtown. Mulligan was crossing Route 25 when he was hit by a truck heading north and died at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation, according to police. Route 25 is expected to reopen around midnight.

Update: 8:12 p.m.

Police Chief Michael Kehoe confirmed to Patch that the accident on Route 25 has turned fatal after a truck reportedly struck a pedestrian.

Update: 7:15 p.m.

A section of Route 25 from Huntingtown to Button Shop is closed after the accident, say drivers who have been caught in the traffic. Police have redirecting traffic. Police report that the area may be closed "for some time" as the investigation continues.

Drivers report being stranded in Sand Hill Plaza, as Main Street is still closed, and delays are upwards of 45 minutes to reach detours. Drivers report detours are available on Toddy Hill Road and Orchard Hill Road.

Update: 6:52 p.m.

A section of Route 25 near Sand Hill Plaza is closed after the accident. Police are redirecting traffic.

Multiple police and emergency vehicles are on the scene after an accident on Route 25 near Button Shop Road in Newtown.

Southbound traffic is backed up for nearly a mile. Police confirmed the accident, but could provide no more information at this time.
