Gymnastics Revolution Makes the Move to Danbury

Since a roof collapse back in late January, the Bethel-based business has found a new home in Danbury.

After 10 years of making Bethel its home, Gymnastics Revolution will officially reopen in early July at 14 Starr Road in Danbury.

In late January, this winter's several snow storms  at 13 Francis J. Clarke Park Circle when the building's roof collapsed, forcing all businesses to vacate.

This came at an even worse time for Gymnastics Revolution owner Brian Bakalar, who was preparing to host hundreds of gymnasts at the annual .

"As soon as I heard, I immediately drove to get all the equipment out for the tournament," Bakalar said. "The Town of Bethel was really good to me, by helping me get everything out that I needed."

While temporarily training at another gymnastics studio in Trumbull, Bakalar said he looked at three or four locations before choosing the space on Starr Road.

Despite facing challenges in time and budget, Bakalar said Gymnastic Revolution's Danbury location, while smaller, brings a more appropriate, affordable space and a location that's easier for his clients to get to.

"We will miss our home in Bethel, but this space definitely benefits the business," he said.

With the gym nearly completed and a lobby under construction, Bakalar said the gym will celebrate its grand re-opening on Tuesday, July 5 from 12-6 p.m. Along with fun activities, visitors will also be able to tour the new facilities.

"I've had some really great support," Bakalar said. "Moms and dads have offered physical support [with the move] and there's been a lot of emotional support too."

Gymnastics Revolution's new location on 14 Starr Road is right off of Federal Road, behind the Honda of Danbury. Its new phone number is 203-778-FLIP (3547). More information can be found on the Gymnastics Revolution website, www.gymnasticsrevolution.com.
