Barn Yard Moving From Brookfield To Bethel

The Barn Yard and Great Country Garages store just north of Four Corners in Brookfield is moving south to Stony Hill Road in Bethel, with the new store expected to open in July.

Company president Everett Skinner said they made the decision to move based on vehicle traffic, which has diminished greatly in the Four Corners area since the Super 7 bypass was completed three years ago.

"Stony Hill in Bethel is an opportune area," Skinner said. "There are lots of cars passing through there everyday and people know us down there."

With the larger space, Skinner said the store will be able to offer "more open, more professional" browsing.

Though commuter traffic on the northern end of Federal Road has dropped significantly, the town is in the midst of implementing a plan to redesign the Town Center District into a pedestrian marketplace, including upper-floor residential units.

Skinner said Tuesday that the company had not been made aware of plans to redevelop the area.

"We've been in Brookfield for 20 happy years," he said. "But we're excited to move forward."
