According to the Build-A-Bear Workshop website, certain production runs of the bear used substandard fabric that could tear around the eyes, possibly resulting in the eyes falling out and presenting a potential choking hazard.

Build-A-Bear Workshop issued a safety recall notice of the Colorful Hearts Teddy on its website. The recall was a joint recall between Build-A-Bear Workshop, Health Canada and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, according to a notice on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada websites.

The bear can then be exchanged for a coupon redeemable for an available animal of their choosing, according to the Build-A-Bear Workshop recall notice.
