Is it harmful to water my household plants with softened water?

Softened water could harm some plants if that's all you use on them. It is most likely to do harm to any plant that really prefers a light or sandy soil. The sodium ions in softened water tends to cause the soil to become compacted, destroying its aeration and its ability to hold water. So, we would advice caution if you're using softened water. Don't use cold water to water your plants. The best temperature is room temperature!

The BHS Key Club will be holding the third annual Easter Egg Hunt at Meckauer Park on Sunday, April 1st. The hunt begins promptly at 11:00, noon and 1:00. Admission is $5 per child. Bring your Easter basket and get ready for a hopping good time of games, sweets and more. We look forward to seeing you then!

Mr. O's Deli on Grassy Plain is celebrating one year in Bethel on Saturday. They will hold a Ribbon Cutting, this Saturday at 12pm during the Bethel Blooms Spring Festival.

Bethel High School is now accepting nominations for its 2012 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction class. Submission are due by May 1st. The nomination form can be found in the BHS main office or on the Bethel High School Athletics web page under the "Hall of Fame" Tab. MAR. 29 – THESIS EXHIBITION: The Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Thesis Exhibition,

APR. 10 featuring the paintings and illustrations of WCSU M.F.A. students, will be on display from noon to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays from Thursday, March 29, through Tuesday, April 10, in the Higgins Gallery in Room 101 of the Higgins Hall Annex on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. There will be an artist reception from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 29. The exhibition and reception will be free and open to the public. For more information, call (203) 837-8410.

MAR. 29 HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS: The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters will display their usual fun and high-spirited showmanship during a game at 7 p.m. in the Feldman Arena at the William O’Neill Athletic and Convocation Center on the WCSU Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. MAR. 29 MENTOR OF THE YEAR CELEBRATION: WCSU will host an event to celebrate Dr. Jeanne Hatcherson, the Mentor of the Year, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center Theater on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. Hatcherson has led many humanitarian travel trips, impacting the lives of those she has visited and the students who have accompanied her.
