PHOTOS: Seraphemera's "Garbanzo" Book Release Celebration Draws Crowds

There was a lively hand clapping, toe tapping, full house at Moltan Java during the Garbanzofest.

There was standing room only at the "Garbanzofest" which took place at Moltan Java in Bethel on Sunday, July 29, at 2pm, presented by publisher Seraphemera Books & Music, and Byrd’s Books.

The first issue of the Garbanzo Journal (Volume One), edited by owners Marc Moorash and Ava Dawn Heydt, was celebrated by live performances of poetry reading, storytellers, video shows, visuals of story illustrations and more.  There was also an open mic for anyone wishing to tell a tale.

The Garbanzo Journal, a book containing the work of 43 authors, is for sale at Byrd's Books.

The Shoutbacks kept hands clapping and feet stomping, and some audience members danced in the isle, as the 5 piece band performed upbeat Americana music.

The authors presented at the Garbanzofest were:

"Bethel teachers are not only educating students, but when society lets kids down, it’sRead More teachers who step in to fill the gap." Explain to me how an average salary of $60,000 per year for working 183 days during that year and an EXTREMELY generous retirement package (compared to the 240 a year the rest of us have to work) considered "society letting them down"?
