First Year Achievements
One short year ago a small group of literature lovers came together to found THE NEWTOWNER. Since its genesis, the team behind THE NEWTOWNER has grown from a small group of seven to over thirty exceptionally dedicated and gifted editors, writers, illustrators, proofreaders, designers, photographers, event planners, assistants, interns, and advisors, who bring their individual talents together to create a uniquely beautiful arts and literary journal dedicated to celebrating both our creative and human spirit.
We are proud of what we have achieved in just one short year.
We have:
• showcased emerging as well as established local, regional, and national writers and artists
• debuted the Youth Expressions section
• hosted three community literary readings
• regularly shared the creative writing of the men from Garner Correctional Institution
• expanded distribution into Bethel, Monroe and Southbury
• launched THE NEWTOWNER Literary Awards
Community Support
None of this could have been achieved without the generous support of our community. Our wholehearted gratitude is extended to all our supporters: our readers, subscribers, advertisers, distributors, and sponsors. We welcome one and all to join us at our First Annual Masked Ball, where we will celebrate our first year and the life-affirming power of literature and the arts.
Let the masquerade begin!
