One of the best-loved writers forchildren, young adults and grown-ups, Judy Blume holds a special place in many a reader'sheart. With over 80 million books in print, her classic novels include Talesof a Fourth Grade Nothing, Superfudge, Blubber, Otherwise Known as Sheila theGreat, and Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.


Finding herself at the center of an organized book banning campaign in the1980s, she began to reach out to writers, teachers and librarians who wereunder fire. Since then, she has worked tirelessly with the National CoalitionAgainst Censorship to protect the freedom to read.

Support provided by Hartford Steam Boiler, the Cigna Foundation, the Greater Hartford Arts Council,and the Connecticut Department of Economic and CommunityDevelopment.
