First Annual Country Music and Dance Festival in Greater Danbury Area will be held Sunday August 12 at Capellaro’s Bethel, CT. The event is sponsored by KICKS 105.5 and106.3 and Alan Kohn from Premier Entertainment. and THE COWBOY BEAT. If you're a proud fan of country music, you'll be excited to know that Capellaro's Grove in Bethel will be transformed into hoe down central on Sunday, August 12. The banquet facility will be the site of the First Annual Country Music and Dance Festival, presented by local DJ and entertainment organizer Alan Kohn. Kohn is known locally for having brought Country Dancing to Danbury in 1991, and for turning Danbury into one of the Northeast's country dancing hotspots. Kohn also founded the Cowboy Beat newspaper in 1994 and has covered more than 100 country concerts and interviewed the leading country music stars of our time.
He's calling the Bethel event the "Biggest Country Music Festival in Connecticut." For all we know, it's the only country music festival in Connecticut, but it's sure to be a boot scootin' good time!
Performers include the country music bands Candlewood, The Ghost Riders, Northern Renegade, and Nashville Drive. Additional entertainment will be provided by DJs Al Williams, Bill Murray, and Kohn himself. Bob Bonett and Betsy Fischer will lead country dance lessons.
Kohn promises a "whole family affair" with activities for kids, volleyball, and swimming, as well as vendors of all types, food, and drinks.
Bands will play in an 8,000-square-foot enclosed pavilion and line and partner dancing will take place in a second 5,000-square-foot air conditioned room with a large wood dance floor.
The festival takes place Sunday August 12, from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm and the price of admission—$15 Adults, $5 children under 12—includes access to the facility's swimming pool.
