Bethel Artist Wins First Place at Juried Art Show in Norwalk

Bethel artist Donna Favreau took first place at the Rowayton Arts Center's "Reflections" exhibition.

Bethel artist Donna Favreau won first place for her work “Mirror Lake” at the juried, all-media exhibition “Reflections,” currently showing at the Rowayton Arts Center in Norwalk through Oct. 27.

Juror Anne von Stuelpnagel, director of exhibitions at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, selected Favreau’s pastel and 82 other works from 168 entries.

“I was impressed by the creativity and breadth of work RAC members submitted – and that certainly did not make my work easy!” she said. “The theme, ‘Reflections,’ begs interpretations of the physical, historical and metaphysical and all are well represented in the exhibit.”

“Several works stood out right away,” von Stuelpnagel added. “Narrowing them down to the winners was the hard part.”

The Best in Show and first place artwork can be viewed at the Rowayton Arts Center’s website.

Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday (closed on Monday). Admission is free.
