Route 58 to Close for Putnam Brook Bridge Replacement

A portion of Route 58 will be closed for a long weekend later this month.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) announced Monday that the Route 58 bridge over Putnam Brook, near the intersection with Saras Way will be completely removed and replaced during the weekend of Friday, Sept. 20 through Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The project includes removal of the existing stone masonry culvert across both lanes of the road and installation of a precast concrete box culvert and precast concrete wingwalls, drainage and new pavement.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes over the bridge will be closed from 6 p.m. Sept. 20 to 6 a.m. Sept. 24. There will be a detour using Route 302 and Route 53.

The project was awarded to Waters Construction out of Bridgeport at a cost of $772,766.
