Farmers Have a Corner on the Market

Summer is almost upon us and farmers across Connecticut are gearing up to share their local produce, dairy, breads and more with hungry locavores at weekly farmer’s markets.

Bethel has two farmers market for local foodies to enjoy. The Municipal Center Market (Downtown) opened on Friday, June 6, 2014 and runs every other Friday now through mid-August. The market will be the held on the first and third Fridays of the month with dates slated as follows.

  • June 6th
  • June 20th
  • July 4th (no market due to Holiday)
  • July 18th
  • August 1st
  • August 15th

The market had been held the past two years on Thursday afternoons but after talking feedback from shoppers and vendors, the committee moved it to Fridays. Vendors this year said they have seen three times as much sales this year due to the date change.

Across town, the Bethel Farmers Market (Stony Hill) begins on Saturday June 21, 2014 and runs Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. through December 20, 2014. It is held at the Fairfield County Extension Service Building, 67 Stony Hill Rd, opposite of the former Stony Hill Inn.
