UPDATED: Expect Traffic Troubles in Bethel, But Not As Much
Two bridge projects this weekend could cause heavy traffic and necessitate some detours.
The bridge replacement on Route 58 has been postponed until at least next weekend. The roadway will be open this weekend but only one lane of travel over the bridge.
Route 6 and other backroads parallel to I-84 will probably be clogged up this weekend as the Department of Transportation (DOT) replaces a bridge on the westbound side near exit 1.
The closure will likely back up highway traffic from Danbury to Newtown and further, prompting motorists to jump off and try their luck on Bethel’s roads.
