CT Attitude: Quiz Reveals Moods in Each State

An online map from TIME shows dominant attitudes for each state. Connecticut is coded blue on the mood map, and not for voting Democratic, but for our "Temperamental & Uninhibited" nature.

If you consider yourself a super agreeable person, there's a chance you'll find more like-minded people in states like Tennessee, Mississippi or Georgia than Connecticut (ranked 43rd in agreeableness out of 50 states).

A new "mood map" featured on the TIME website shows ratings for each state based on dominant personality traits and attitudes. Connecticut, like most of New England is swathed in blue on the map, resulting in the overall descriptors of "Temperamental and Uninhibited."

The TIME map and quiz are based on a study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. The online quiz asks 10 questions about how people see themselves.

While Connecticut's scores on traits like openness, extroversion and agreeableness don't diverge too far from average, we do rank toward the bottom - 47th to be exact - in conscientiousness.

Connecticut ranked 16th in "Neuroticism." Apparently the most neurotic state state is West Virginia, with Maine coming in second, Massachusetts placing third and New York ranking fourth.
