Bethel Road Work Scheduled for August, September

Paving and storm drain installation continues in Bethel.

Road crews continue to make progress on the 2013 paving plan, with most of the larger project completed and storm drain installation moving along on the many of those remaining.

“The crews got a little bit of a late start this season due to the heavy and frequent early summer rains, but doing their best to make up for lost time now,” according to First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker.

Diamond Ave., Fawn Road and Gretchen Lane were fully repaved and new storm drains have been installed.

New drains are being installed on Oak Ridge Road, Evergreen Drive, North Street and East Lane during August, with repaving scheduled for September.

The crews will move on to Rockwell Road (Plumtrees to Route 302), the remainder of Walnut Hill Road (Old Hawleyville to the town line), then over to Bethpage Drive, Fairchild Drive and Oven Rock Road.

Weather permitting, Long Meadow Lane and a few other roads might be added to the list.

“Let’s hope there are no late season hurricanes or Halloween snowstorms this year so our highway crew can stay on schedule,” Knickerbocker added.
