Dogs Invited to Help Fight Cancer at American Cancer Society's Bark for Life in Bethel

Join us on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Meckauer Park located at 16 Shelter Rock Road for the American Cancer Society’s Bark For Life. Dog lovers from all over the state will gather to honor the care giving qualities of their canine friends in a walkathon. Since dogs are not permitted at Relay For Life events, Bark For Life gives those who view their dogs as support systems a chance to raise money for the fight against cancer. Pre-registration is $10/dog and day-of registration is $15/dog. All dogs receive a bandana. Registration begins at 11:00am and the walk begins at 12:00pm.

Individual walkers and teams are both welcome to this event where there will be fun activities for dogs and their owners alike.  Prizes will be given to the top fundraising dogs.

At this event, the American Cancer Society asks that all dogs are on a leash at all times and dog owners/participants are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.  To sign up or for more information, contact Rob Gerowe at the American Cancer Society at 203.563.1538.

The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.4 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 13.7 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year.
