Landmark Preschool Officially Opens Renovated Facility

Landmark Preschool celebrated the opening of the redesigned facility at their Ridgefield location in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, December 6.

The new space includes a completely renovated preschool wing with more spacious classrooms re-imagined for children ages two through five plus a new multi-purpose gathering place called The Pod, complete with a gardening corner as well as an appropriate-sized performance stage.

A brand-new Kitchen Lab completes the new space and offers students opportunities to learn math and science skills through cooking lessons. “Children have been very busy measuring, learning how to read recipes, and enjoying cooking up some delicious snacks in their new Kitchen since it opened one week ago,” says Tara Simeonidis, Head of Preschool and Lower School. In the spring, students will use ingredients from the school’s organic garden in their creations.

Head of School Jim Heus offered opening remarks and thanks to the committee who helped re-imagine the type of space young children thrive best in, including lots of natural light, easy access to the outdoors, and open areas for hands-on learning. Guests were invited to enjoy cookies made by preschoolers and their teachers.

The Landmark Preschool program, in existence for over 35 years, has two additional campuses in Redding and Westport. The Ridgefield location is housed on the 42-acre campus of Ridgefield Academy on West Mountain Rd. Please visit our website at landmarkpreschool.org for detailed descriptions of our program and flexible schedule for young children. Come see for yourself why Landmark Preschool is second to none when it comes to preschool education. Call Julie Crane at 203.894.1800 x112 to schedule a visit; children always welcome.

"Bethel teachers are not only educating students, but when society lets kids down, it’sRead More teachers who step in to fill the gap." Explain to me how an average salary of $60,000 per year for working 183 days during that year and an EXTREMELY generous retirement package (compared to the 240 a year the rest of us have to work) considered "society letting them down"?
