Guided by Circle of Friends teacher Cindy Keane, the team is learning formation and skills. Giving their flag and rifle twirling their all, practice is getting more intense.

Parent Lisa Quillinan participated in Winter Guard when she was younger, and after she took her daughter to see an exhibition, her daughter decided to give it a try.

“It's good discipline, teaches technique, and kids learn to be comfortable in front of a crowd of hundreds of people,” Quillinan said.

Mom Bernadette Bryant has a twin boy and girl, aged 9. Her daughter Sarah gets excited about the competitions, and her brother, Cole is a good sport about watching the girls perform at practice.

Teens from Bethel Middle School are on hand to help the girls with twirling and formation tips.

BMS eighth grader, Molly Kirschbaum said that she has been in Winter Guard since she was in fifth grade. Up until then, she had been involved with dance, but since she started Winter Guard, this is where her energies have been focused.

Her inseparable friend Molly Dolman has been in Winter Guard since the third grade and said, “I have been doing it so long, it's no longer a choice. It's what I do. And I had Miss Cindy when I was in third grade, and she is awesome.”
