Two Bethel boy scouts achieve Eagle Scout ranking

Congrats to Michael Dunn and Brandon Lennox from Troop 71, who completed community service projects to earn the highest scout ranking of Eagle Scout. Both boys are members of Troop 71 led by Scoutmaster Tom Gaffney and chartered by the St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Bethel.

For his Eagle Project, Dunn designed and built a platform to house a recycling dumpster at the Bethel Public Library. He excavated the hill, put down a concrete platform and built a retaining wall. On his road to Eagle, Dunn camped 135 nights, hiked 119 miles, biked 880 miles and earned 33 Merit Badges. He graduated from Immaculate High School '09 and is now attending the University of Nebraska.

Lennox completed his Eagle Project by directing the design and construction of an educational sign, complete with a protective enclosure for the Plumtrees school house in Bethel. The sign provides a historical time line of the schoolhouse and displays pictures of the school through the years. The project took over 145 hours to complete. On his road to Eagle, Lennox camped 147 nights, hiked 123 miles, biked 490 miles and earned 29 Merit Badges. He graduated from Bethel High School '09 and is now attending Clarkson University.
